Windows 10 – L2TP/IPsec VPN Connection

- Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Centre
- Setup a new connection or network -> Connect to a workplace -> Use my internet connection (VPN)
- Enter internet address and name for display
- tick “remember credentials” -> Create
- Change adapter settings -> VPN connection -> Properties -> Security
- Type of VPN: L2TP/IPsec -> Advanced settings: tick “Use pre-shared key for authentication” and enter key
- Data encryption
- Require encryption (disconnect if server declines)
- Select “allow these protocols” -> Microsoft CHAP version 2
- Try to connect
If the connection cannot be established, try the following:
- Windows+R -> regedit
- Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PolicyAgent
- New DWORD (32-bit) Value
- Name: AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule
- Value: 2
- Restart PC
If it still fails, check the pre-shared key again
